Please note that Brighton HWRS will be closed on Thursday 19th July for essential maintenance work. We would encourage people to use the site on another day instead, or if necessary then to use the Hove HWRS, Off Old Shoreham Road, Hove BN3 3TW. This is a one day closure only and Brighton HWRS will be open as normal again on Friday 20th July.

Heathfield Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRS) will be closed on Wednesday 7th February all day for essential maintenance works.

Bonfire night parties and festivities can generate a huge amount of waste, so don’t forget to remember to follow the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and always make sure you Recycle as much as possible afterwards. If you’re throwing a party, think about using reusable plates, cups, utensils, napkins and tablecloths.

In the run up to National Recycle Week 2015 (22 – 26 June) Veolia has been busy giving school children and residents from all over East Sussex and Brighton & Hove an insight into the wonderful world of waste and how you can recycle more around the home.
The Household Waste Recycling Sites will be open as normal on the bank holiday except Crowborough, Eastbourne, Hove, Forest Row, Seaford and Wadhurst will be closed on Monday, Hailsham will be open 9am to 1pm and Brighton 9am to 5pm.
Pebsham Waste Transfer Station and the adjacent Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRS) have been closed from early this morning.

Veolia is seeking to source non-recyclable commercial and industrial waste for its Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) from areas neighbouring East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
Veolia is helping to turn the circular economy into a reality by transforming trashcan to catwalk to create a stunning new dress from five huge sacks of around 50 recycled aluminum cans, 30 plastic bottles, 10 newspapers, 10 cardboard boxes and 50 tins.

Changes are being made to the days of the week that the Veolia operated Seaford, Forest Row and Wadhurst Household Waste Recycling Sites are open. From 6th October these sites will be open from Friday to Sunday. No changes to opening days are being made to other Household Waste Recycling Sites.

Building plans for the new University Technical College (UTC) in Newhaven are to go on show at a Public Exhibition in the town on Wednesday 9th April. The plans are for the college to be based at the Grade II listed Marine Workshops at Railway Quay, just two minutes from Newhaven Town railway station.
Sponsored by the University of Brighton, Lewes District Council, educational charity the Aldridge Foundation and Veolia Environmental Services Plc., the UTC will focus on the skills in demand by the growing marine engineering and environmental technology sectors in the region.
