Veolia operates East Sussex and Brighton & Hove’s 12 Household Waste Recycling Sites, in partnership with the councils.
The recycling sites take a wide range of items and they’re really useful for those things which can’t be recycled or disposed of via collection services or bring banks.
East Sussex County Council have recently made (click and follow this link for more information) - changes to their household waste recycling sites.
These changes include:
- The first two bags of hardcore or soil, or one sheet of plasterboard, will be free of charge with a maximum of one visit per week.
- Charges will apply above this amount or for more than one visit per week.
- Charges also apply for bonded asbestos and tyres.
- Please note plasterboard, bonded asbestos and tyres can only be accepted at certain sites. Please note: you can dispose of mattresses at all of the Household Waste Recycling Sites below.
Please note: you can dispose of mattresses at all of the Household Waste Recycling Sites below.
- Some household items can be harmful to the environment and shouldn’t be put out with your rubbish. These can be recycled or disposed of at your Household Waste Recycling Site and can include car batteries and engine oil
- The sites are also great for depositing bulky household items such as fridges and freezers
- And there are lots of other things you can bring along, including textiles, green garden waste, cooking oil and TVs, as well as more general recyclables such as cardboard, paper or glass bottles and jars
Residents with Disabilities
If you have mobility problems and require assistance, please ask a member of site staff when you arrive. They will take your items and transfer them to the correct recycling containers for you if required. Disabled parking spaces are available at all the sites except Hailsham.
