Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it is collected? Veolia invites visitors from across the county and the city to come along and find out all this and more at our ‘Waste & Recycling Wonder Open Day’ on Thursday 10th November; at Hollingdean Materials Recovery Facility from 10am - 3pm.
Guided tours will be running throughout the day with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discover what happens at our modern integrated waste management facility. Our Wonder Day tours must be pre-booked by calling: 01273 544205
The ‘Wonder Day’ will support East Sussex County Council’s ‘Open Doors’ Project (7 – 11 November) which aims to provide Year 9 students with an insight into the types of companies and roles available across the county, through offering workplace tours, demonstrations and talks about what it is like to work in different industries.
Allan Key General Manager for Veolia South Downs said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our neighbours and local residents to come and explore what happens at our sites.
“The behind-the-scenes tour and information outlets at our ‘Wonder Days’ are designed to give residents and students who may visit through the ‘Open Doors’ scheme, a detailed insight into the entire network of our recycling and recovery operations, raise awareness of the circular economy and the importance of disposing of your waste properly.”
Veolia South Downs has a 30 year contract for the delivery of an integrated waste management service across East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. Working in partnership with both East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council, it is committed to providing a sustainable approach to managing the area’s household waste.
