The sites will be open throughout the Bank Holiday as normal except for four sites:
• Crowborough, Eastbourne and Hove will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday
• Hailsham site open 9am to 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday
Making sure that unwanted items are reused and recycled instead of just throwing them away provides a real benefit to the environment by helping to stop so much waste going into landfill and providing the resources to make new products. Well over half of waste deposited at the 14 sites by residents is now being diverted from landfill, with many sites regularly diverting 90% or more.
Pro-Grow is the end product of green waste that is recycled and collected in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove and taken to the Woodlands In-Vessel Composting Facility in Whitesmith, East Sussex. It then goes through a highly controlled process which takes around 8 weeks to turn the green garden waste in to a top quality soil conditioner for more information please visit www.pro-grow.com.
Martin Benson, Household Waste Recycling Sites Manager for Veolia South Downs says: “Many people use the Bank Holiday for a good tidy up in the garden and we want to encourage residents when visiting their local Household Waste Recycling Sites to try Pro-Grow Soil Conditioner which has been recognised as one of the leading soil improvers industry-wide.”
